/mi item deconstruct does not work

Attempting to deconstruct an item with /mi item deconstruct responds with "the item you are holding can't be deconstructed."

I tested this with the item crusher, which deconstructs items, but is a consumable item.

The same items that can be deconstructed with the item crusher cannot be deconstructed with the command.

Update: If items have the "can-deconstruct" attribute they can be deconstructed with the command but this attribute is whether or not an item can be used to deconstruct a different item. Not how it is supposed to work.
