-d in item give command not finding player online.

MM 5.4.4 Build 17ade94e || Paper 169 1.20.1

"/mm i give -d BanditTunic" This returns "That player is not online"

As written there I would expect it to either give me the item in question or drop it at my location, but it does not appear to detect me at all.

I am in survival mode.
